Texas Home Educators

Our Directors' Board

Jim and Jube Dankworth

Since the late 1980s - at a time when the legality of home-schooling in Texas was far from settled - Jim and Jube Dankworth have home educated their 4 children.  Jim and Jube now enjoy being the field trip grandparents to their home educated grandchildren. Speaking with thousands of home educating parents and seeing the needs of the community, the Dankworths are dedicating their time, talents and more than three decades of experience to training new leaders, and helping the Texas Home Educators continue to grow as a thriving, committed and vital organization

Ken and Holly Wallis

Ken is the former president of SETHSA.  He saw the vision of the new organization, allowing the SETHSA board to vote on the name and geographical changes.  Holly has been instrumental in the organizing of the conferences for over 20 years.  They homeschooled their 2 children who are now adults.

Damon and Jennifer Bennett

The Bennetts are second generation homeschoolers. Having both been homeschooled as children, they desired to homeschool their 5 children. Damon is an Aerospace Engineer, and has a love of teaching and mentoring. Jennifer is an entrepreneur/investor, managing their rental business while schooling 4 of their 5 children currently. They are involved in their local American Heritage Girls and Trail Life troops, and want to raise their children to follow the Lord's leading and use their talents to make a difference in the lives of people in their community. Damon and Jennifer believe in the mission of Texas Home Educators to assist and facilitate the local and regional homeschool groups through servant leadership to assist homeschool families in their endeavors. We all need uplifting, encouragement, and opportunities for ourselves and our children. We believe T. H. E. can help bring awareness of those resources to the local families to help them grow.

Ron and Joanne Juren

The Jurens are business leaders in the Houston area. Joanne, a former HISD principal, created the first partnership between home educators and the community colleges of Harris County. She then created Eta Sigma Alpha National Home School Honor Society, which today has 244 chapters across the nation and is spreading internationally. Their two home educated sons are now attorneys in the Houston area. We are honored to have them on our board.
